St. Patrick's Day is Monday March 17, 2014 but most of the area will be celebrating this wonderful holiday on Saturday March 15, 2014. There will be so many different festivities and activities to do in our area for all ages. Here are just a few of them to mention:

  • Irish American Heritage Museum  - 1 p.m. Saturday, Family Activities. Find out more about St. Patrick and Irish tradition. Crafts, storytelling and more for the kids. Exhibit feature: "Irish and the Erie Canal." The store of St. Patrick will be told at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m.
  • The parting Glass in Saratoga Springs - Festivities start at 10 a.m. Kevin and Katie McKrell with Jeff Strange will perform from noon to 3 p.m., followed by Irish step dancers and the Ballston Spa Marching Band at 4 p.m., performance from the McKells and Forthlin Road at 9 p.m.
  • Irish Times in Saratoga Springs  - The daylong celebration starts with breakfast at 9 a.m. An Irish buffet will be offered all day. There will also be Irish dancers and bagpipers. Music lineup: noon - 4 p.m., Black Abbey: 6 - 9:30 p.m., Plum Muffinz; 9:30 p.m. DJ's Vinyl Tap.
  • St. Patrick's Day Parade - Albany's 62nd annual parade begins at 2 p.m. Saturday. This year's march will occur on a new route then previous years. The parade starts at Quail Street and Central Avenue, travels east, margining onto Washington Avenue, turns left at City Hall onto State Street and Broadway.
  • Hair Of The Dog at Revolution Hall in Troy  - 8 p.m. Saturday. The 2nd annual Celtic Bash 2012, 6 a.m. - 11 p.m. at O'Toole's Restaurant and Pub in Albany. The event opens with a $4 breakfast, followed by three bands, beer specials, radio station to giveaway $1,000 travel voucher and a Pot of Gold prize with a diamond ring. Contest between 4-6 p.m. Certified Angus corned beef all day plus other food specials.
  • Uncle Marty's Adirondack Grill in Averill Park  - 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday. Featuring the first annual Kilt Run, kids Shamrock Shuffle race at noon, children's activities, performance by the Dancers of An Clar and music by the Back 40 Band.
  • St. Patrick's Day block party at Pinhead Susan's  - 2 p.m. Saturday, Celebrate St. Paddy's day at the Schenectady Irish pub. The event includes performances from What She Said, Greenstreet and Headroom.
  • Power's Irish Pub in Clifton Park  - Starts at 11 a.m. and goes all day featuring the Jameson Girls, the Guinness Girls, the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band, the lona Troupe (Irish step dancers), music from Triskele and Irish food.
